Technical Overview
FastSafePlus provides best-in-class content filtering without slowing down your Internet access. A small software download is required which will be registered on our servers. Once the authentication is complete, the software allows the end user (traditionally a parent or guardian) to create several child accounts and control File Sharing & Downloading , Instant Messaging and Web filtering through the software. Each URL that is requested by the client is checked against the server to ensure that the content requested meets with selected requirements.

Parent and Child Accounts
With the FastSafePlus Premium Parental Controls solution, parents have the ability to create multiple profiles for the household. Each person within the household has profiles that users sign into. The filtering policies for each account can be unique. For example, the parents could set themselves up so that they are blocked for sex sites, but have access to entertainment websites. Child accounts, however, can be blocked for sex sites and entertainment sites.

30+ categories of Filtering
We offer over 30+ categories of filtering to subscribers, ranging from the filtering of sexual and pornographic content to search engine sites and chat sites. This allows the parent to adjust child filters to be appropriate for each child.

Intuitive Use
The FastSafePlus Premium Parental Controls solution is intuitive to use and allows for quick end-user adoption. Profiles for members of the household can be configured within seconds. The logical organization of the interface means that parents can quickly implement the application as a means of protection for family members.

Instant Messanger Blocking
Parents can block common Instant Messaging applications such as MSN, ICQ and Yahoo Instant Messenger. In addition, time-based controls can be applied to IM applications to limit use. This ensures that children or teens use the computer at appropriate times for the right purposes (e.g. homework) and then have specified times for messaging friends.

File Sharing Blocking
The Premium Parental Controls solution allows for the blocking of common file sharing applications, such as Kazaa, eDonkey, and WinMX. These applications are commonly used for the illegal distribution of copyrighted music, movies, games, as well as pornographic material. Moreover, if parents choose to allow these applications on the computer, time blocking can be enabled to restrict the use of the applications.

Blacklists
Although FastSafePlus’s Premium Parental Controls solution provides categorical filtering, there may be certain sites that fall within an acceptable category, but that parents do not want their children or teens accessing. For this reason, the solution allows for parents to enter URLs of sites that they find inappropriate into Black lists. An example of this kind of use might be if parents to not filter entertainment sites, but choose to enter the URL of one specific site into a the Black list that too often has scantily clad pictures of celebrities. Thus, although entertainment sites could be accessed by the child or teen, this particular entertainment site would be blocked if access were attempted.

Whitelists
The opposite of Black lists, White lists allow parents to block access to a certain category, but allow access to selected sites that may fall within that category. For example, if parents filtered on Entertainment sites (therefore, they blocked access to all entertainment sites), but permitted children or teens to access a specified entertainment site, they could enter the URL of the site in the White list.

Web Updates
The application is updated via the internet. By simply selecting the option “check for software updates” on the application’s main interface, parents can obtain new releases and upgrades to the application.

Password Protection for Uninstall
The FastSafePlus Premium Parental Controls client ensures that the application cannot be uninstalled from the computer unless the master parent password is entered. This ensures that the application is not removed without the approval of the parent.
